Program Objectives

  • Examine regulatory changes related to present on admission (POA), and medical review criteria for inpatient admission

This presentation contains a detailed study of the anatomy of the spine, the ICD-10-CM disease classification, and ICD-10-PCS procedures commonly performed to correct these conditions. There will be example operative scenarios to demonstrate the technique for accurate ICD-10-PCS code building.

Kathy is the Education Services Manager at LexiCode and a subject matter expert in the ICD-9 and ICD-10-CM/PCS Classification systems, MS-DRG and other payment methodologies, anatomy, surgical procedures and disease process for coding. She is an AHIMA FORE Scholarship recipient, a Phi Theta Kappa honors graduate from the CPCC Health Information Technology program in Charlotte, North Carolina, and an honors graduate from the University of Kansas Health Information Management program. During her coding career, she has worked as a coder, consultant, auditor and educator. She is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), and an AHIMA-Approved ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer. A teacher before entering the Health Information field, she brings a passion for learning and sharing information about coding.

Pricing

Members of SCHIMA, SCHA and SCORH will pay a per-person price of $75 and non-members will pay $100 to attend. Online registration will close 3 business days prior to the meeting.

Climate in meeting rooms is difficult to control for everyone’s comfort and healthy air. Please remember to dress to suit how you will be most comfortable sitting in a room for a long period of time. Layering is the best option for most people or a blanket for others.

The registration fee is refundable if SCHIMA is notified of cancellation no later than Friday, August 17, 2018. No refunds issued past this date. No refunds issued for no-shows.
